At 05:30 on 26 August 1922, artillery fire echoing from Kocatepe initiated the Great Offensive under the command of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, shattering fortified positions across the steppe.
Four days of relentless battle culminated on 30 August along the Zafertepeçalköy and Dumlupınar front with the Battle of the Commander-in-Chief. Today, the monumental memorials and museum at Dumlupınar Cemetery commemorate not merely military triumph, but the profound human sacrifice and peace forged across these plains. It remains a sacred landscape of national memory.
