How is the place situated?

Teos had two harbours, one large and one small, marking movement along the coast, while the theatre, agora, odeon, council building and gymnasium shaped public space within the city. No single temple or photograph represents this extensive settlement in full.

How do the layers change?

The official record links a large share of the visible structures to the Hellenistic and Roman periods. The Temple of Dionysus is associated with Hermogenes in the early 2nd century BCE; it was repaired in the Roman period and damaged by earthquakes.

How was the place inhabited?

Inscriptions make visible teachers responsible for sport and music in the gymnasium. The Ionian Actors' Association, founded at Teos toward the end of the 3rd century BCE, shows artists forming an organised community that travelled between cities.

What can be said today?

The theatre remains are read within an olive-grove landscape, while the two harbours and other public buildings form separate stops.
