Panionion
A site on Mycale’s slopes associated with the shared sanctuary and assembly memory of Ionian cities, whose archaeological layers need to be clearly distinguished.

Reading Ionian cities together
The name Panionion is associated with a shared memory of worship and assembly among Ionian cities. It does not dissolve distinct cities into one centre; it makes visible a regional relationship in which different cities could gather at particular times for ritual, representation and decision.
The Otomatik Tepe-Melia debate
The structure documented at Otomatik Tepe near Güzelçamlı is evaluated as a Hellenistic assembly or presentation area. Research also points to the vicinity of Melia for an earlier Panionion centre. This page does not turn that research history into a single, absolute location claim; it keeps clear which evidence belongs to which period.
A route opening to Priene and Miletus
The passage from Panionion to Priene opens the relationship between shared site and hillside; the passage to Miletus opens its delta and harbour scale. Together these links help us read Ionia not as a list of city names but as geographical and political ties that affected one another.
Keeping debate visible
Uncertainty does not need to be hidden to make archaeological sites meaningful. The Panionion dossier proposes a working model in which primary text, excavation publication and later research remain visible with their sources and open to new field evidence.
Carrying the idea of an alliance into the map layer
When the map arrives, Panionion will not be a lone marker. Otomatik Tepe, the Melia research area, the Mycale threshold, Priene and Miletus will be treated as separate nodes connectable through source level, period and debate notes.
