The Kula-Salihli UNESCO Global Geopark, known in antiquity as Katakekaumene (the Burnt Country), is Turkey's first registered UNESCO geopark. Featuring over 80 volcanic cinder cones, 12,000-year-old prehistoric human footprints embedded in volcanic ash, and historic timbered Kula houses, it preserves a unique natural landscape.
